Work & Vocation

I have dedicated a separate blog to the subject of work & vocation under the tagline The Future of Work and Education since late 2015 on mingong.org

My interest in both the essence of work and education has also guided me to set up my own consultancy in September 2016, where I combine my legal and corporate experience with my deep interest in psychology

---

After extremely exhausting years in my function as managing director of a European high tech manufacturer in China and two close to burn out experiences, I have asked myself the below scaling questions and have come to realize that I like my job much more than I thought. The key for this observation was comparing all my previous job assignments to my current duties.

Nevertheless, these scaling questions were supposed to support me in the shaping of my future work environment and avoiding situations I experienced in 2014. It turned out that I will have to improve much in the categories "know how to have fun" and "dream big" to bring a better overall balance to my work life. Work is not only about getting shit done, but also being able to enjoy working hours with your colleagues.

Work is not only about micromanagement, but also about delegating issues that can be securely delegated and making use of the remainder time to dream big (with the purpose of getting shit more efficiently done and having more fun at work ;) sure, it won't be easy to implement, but I think of it as a great new year resolution.
